Enjoying

Common looking people are the best in the world.
That is the reason the Lord makes so many of them.
~Abraham Lincoln~

Note the picture at 2:11, he totally does a Spock eyebrow raise.

Then Came Today

Normally this would be a broken hot mess of a Thursday, but I find my thoughts cohesive and tracking for once in a string of yesterdays.

Today, even though I am sick and coughing up a lung every ten-to-fifteen seconds (literally), I discovered that (outside of law school) hard work = high grades. After getting my midterm grades from last week, I picked up Sage from the veterinary clinic. She's better than she was pre-second-surgery, if you can believe it, stiches and all. I held her and brushed her and fed her pieces of chicken. She purred and kneaded those paws like she wasn't missing a claw.

Today I sat at my desk in front of the space heater and wrote a paper. It's a pretty good paper, too, for a rough draft. It didn't have nearly as much headdesking as the last non-legal-paper did. Remembering how to write like a normal person after three years of legal brainwashing is a slow process, but one that is coming along.

Today I made Baked Macaroni and Cheese from scratch (Thanks Alton Brown!) in my little kitchen. I added green chiles to the mixture because I didn't have any paprika. How odd am I to stock Panko bread crumbs but not paprika? It turned out wonderfully. Paired with a merlot, it made a great autumn meal. I got a phone call from a boy with a funny story.

Today I reorganized my acrylic paints. I pulled out my prismacolor pencils and sketched in my journal. I updated my address book and started my forestry homework. I brainstormed ideas for halloween costumes with my best friend. Soon I will wash my face with Yerba Mate Tea cleanser and fall into my old squeaky bed. I might listen to music for a while.

That was today. It wasn't special, or unique, or clever...but it was mine.

Shadow Shot Sunday: Picket Fence

Build a little fence of trust around today;
Fill the space with loving deeds, and therein stay.
Look not through the sheltering bars upon tomorrow;
God will help thee bear what comes of joy and sorrow.
~Mary F. Butts~
